Perioperative Services Director

JOB DESCRIPTION:

At the direction of the Vice President for Patient Care Services/Chief Nursing Officer, the Perioperative Services Director assumes responsibility for the operations and planning of services for Ambulatory Services, Surgical Services, Pain Clinic, and Infusion Center.  

• This individual has authority, responsibility, and accountability for strategic planning in the above areas.  

• Accountable for the operational success of the department including the provision of safe, cost effective, quality patient care, development of the staff, and stability of financial performance.  

• Plans, develops, implements, and evaluates programs and services that achieve strategic goals.  

• Works in close relationship with the Chief Medical Officer, Department of Surgery Chair, and UVMHN Network leads in the Perioperative space.  

REQUIRED SKILLS

• Demonstrated excellence in communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to operate in high-pressure situations.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook required

• Demonstrated effective managerial and administrative leadership of clinical operations.

• Demonstrated skill in presentation, both oral and written.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

• RN with current unencumbered Vermont license. 

• BSN required. 

• Masters degree in nursing, business administration, or related field preferred on hire or obtained within 5 years of hire.   

• Demonstrated clinical competence in all areas of responsibility is also required.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible management with demonstrated leadership/managerial potential which includes interpersonal competence, communication, and excellence in organizational ability is required.
